Ingredients

Cooking oil
2 tablespoons
Salt

Ground black pepper

Fish sauce
1 tablespoon
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Tomato sauce
1 cup
Green peas
1 cup, frozen or fresh
Potato
1 medium, diced
Carrots
2 medium, diced
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Onion
1 medium, chopped
Ground beef
1 pound

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until the onions are translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground beef, cooking until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the diced carrots and potatoes, mixing well to combine with the meat.
  5. Add the green peas, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Stir until everything is well coated in the sauce.
  6. Season with ground black pepper and salt to taste, keeping in mind that the fish sauce and soy sauce will add saltiness.
  7. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes over low heat, or until the vegetables are tender and the flavors are well blended.
  8. Serve hot over a bed of steamed rice, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
