Ingredients

Gnocchi
1 pound (450g), store-bought or homemade
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Tomato sauce
2 cups (480ml), homemade or store-bought
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Mozzarella cheese
1 cup (100g), shredded
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup (50g), grated
Fresh basil
1/4 cup, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions, usually boiling them for 2-3 minutes until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce, adding salt and pepper to taste. Stir well and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, gently stirring to coat them evenly in the rich tomato sauce.
  6. Transfer the gnocchi and sauce mixture to a baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with the chopped fresh basil before serving.
