Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

These gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches are made with a combination of artisanal cheeses, flavorful spreads, and fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Balsamic glaze (2 tablespoons)
  • Arugula (1 cup)
  • Prosciutto (4 slices)
  • Fig jam (2 tablespoons)
  • Goat cheese (2 ounces)
  • Cheddar cheese (4 ounces, grated)
  • Gruyere cheese (4 ounces, grated)
  • Butter (4 tablespoons)
  • Sourdough bread (4 slices)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet or griddle.
  4. Layer the cheeses, fig jam, prosciutto, and arugula on top of the bread slices.
  5. Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  6. Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet or griddle and let them cool for a minute.
  8. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the sandwiches.
  9. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot.
