Grapefruit Mint Iced Tea

Immerse yourself in the taste of summer with our Grapefruit Mint Iced Tea! This refreshing beverage is a delightful blend of tart grapefruit and cooling mint, with the full-bodied flavor of black tea providing the perfect backdrop. Sweetened with natural honey, it's a healthier alternative to store-bought sweetened iced teas. A staple in southern US households, iced tea was historically served sweet, but we've given it a modern, tangy twist!

Serves 4

Ingredients

Water
4 cups
Black tea bags
2
Fresh mint leaves
1 cup
Grapefruit juice
1 cup, freshly squeezed
Honey
1/4 cup, or to taste
Ice cubes
as needed
Grapefruit slices
for garnish
Mint sprigs
for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the black tea bags and fresh mint leaves. Allow them to steep for 5 minutes.
  3. After the steeping time, remove the tea bags and strain out the mint leaves.
  4. Stir in the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and honey into the tea mixture until well combined.
  5. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, and then refrigerate until it is thoroughly chilled.
  6. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over the ice.
  7. Garnish each glass with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of mint.
