Greek Gyro Plate
This Greek gyro plate is a delicious combination of tender marinated meat, flavorful tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
- Lettuce (4 leaves)
- Cucumber (1, sliced)
- Red onion (1, thinly sliced)
- Tomatoes (2, sliced)
- Tzatziki sauce (1 cup)
- Pita bread (4 pieces)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Lemon juice (2 tablespoons)
- Greek yogurt (1 cup)
- Boneless lamb or chicken (1 pound, thinly sliced)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add the sliced lamb or chicken to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated meat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove the meat from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice it into thin strips.
- Warm the pita bread on the grill or in a toaster.
- To assemble the gyro plate, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread.
- Top with the sliced meat, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, and lettuce.
- Serve the Greek gyro plate with extra tzatziki sauce on the side.
- Enjoy!
