Grilled Bell Peppers

Elevate your meals with these vibrant grilled bell peppers, bursting with flavor and a hint of smokiness. This colorful side dish not only adds a beautiful presentation to your plate but also delivers a healthy dose of vitamins and antioxidants. Perfect for barbecues, picnics, or as a gourmet addition to sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Originating from Mediterranean cuisine, where grilling vegetables is a cherished tradition, these peppers are a celebration of simple ingredients and robust flavors.

Serves 4

Ingredients

Bell peppers
4 (any color: red, yellow, or green)
Olive oil
3 tablespoons
Balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F or 200°C).
  2. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly. Cut them in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and stems.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Brush the bell pepper halves generously with the olive oil mixture, ensuring that all sides are adequately coated for maximum flavor.
  5. Place the bell peppers on the grill, cut side down. Grill for 5-7 minutes, or until they start to develop beautiful char marks.
  6. Flip the bell peppers over and continue grilling for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly charred.
  7. Once done, remove the bell peppers from the grill and allow them to cool for a few minutes.
  8. Serve the grilled bell peppers warm as a side dish, or use them as a delicious filling for sandwiches, salads, or wraps.

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, try marinating the bell peppers in the olive oil mixture for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
  • 💡 Feel free to experiment with different spices like smoked paprika or Italian herbs to customize the flavor.
  • 💡 These grilled peppers can also be diced and added to pasta dishes or served as a topping for pizzas.
