Ingredients
- Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons, softened
- Cheddar cheese
- 4 slices (or to taste)
- Bread
- 2 slices (sourdough, whole wheat, or your favorite type)
- Garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon (optional, for added flavor)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of softened unsalted butter on one side of each slice of bread. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on the butter for extra flavor.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side down, on the skillet.
- If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the unbuttered side of the bread in the skillet for a flavorful kick.
- Add 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
- Place the second slice of bread, butter side up, on top of the cheese.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom bread slice is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure even melting.
- Remove from heat and let cool for a minute before cutting the sandwich in half.
