Spicy Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Experience a spectacular twist on a classic comfort food. This Grilled Cheese Sandwich is infused with the fiery heat of jalapenos and the creamy richness of fresh avocados. As the cheddar cheese melts into a gooey treat, the avocado provides a cool contrast and the jalapenos offer a kick that makes each bite unforgettable. This is far more than just a sandwich; it's an adventure for your taste buds.

Ingredients

Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons, at room temperature
Ripe avocado
1, pitted and sliced
Fresh jalapenos
2, deseeded and thinly sliced
Cheddar cheese
8 slices
Whole grain bread
4 slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread a tablespoon of butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Lay two slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.
  4. On each slice of bread, layer with two slices of cheddar cheese, a handful of jalapeno slices, and a quarter of the avocado slices.
  5. Cover with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom bread slice is golden brown and the cheese has started to melt.
  7. Flip the sandwiches over carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  8. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before cutting them in half.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy the heat of the jalapenos and creaminess of the avocado.

Tips

  • 💡 If you cannot handle the heat of jalapenos, try using pickled jalapenos. They have less heat but still add a nice kick.
  • 💡 To make a healthier version, use whole grain bread and low-fat cheddar cheese.
