Elevate your pizza game with this delightful grilled pizza recipe! The smoky flavor from the grill combined with a crispy homemade crust creates a mouthwatering experience. Top it with fresh mozzarella, vibrant basil, and your choice of toppings for a customizable feast that’s perfect for summer gatherings or cozy nights in. This dish pays homage to the traditional Italian pizza-making techniques, where fresh ingredients shine and the cooking method enhances the flavors beautifully.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Fresh basil
1/2 cup, chopped
Toppings of your choice (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.)
1-2 cups
Mozzarella cheese
2 cups, shredded
Pizza sauce
1 cup
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Pizza dough
1 pound, homemade or store-bought

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C).
  2. If making homemade pizza dough, prepare it ahead of time and allow it to rise according to your recipe's instructions.
  3. Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a thin round crust, about 10-12 inches in diameter.
  4. Brush one side of each crust generously with olive oil to create a crispy texture when grilled.
  5. Place the oiled side of the crusts directly on the preheated grill grates. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the crusts are lightly charred and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the crusts over using tongs. Quickly spread about 1/4 cup of pizza sauce on the cooked side of each crust.
  7. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your desired toppings.
  8. Close the grill lid and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove the grilled pizzas from the grill and sprinkle with freshly chopped basil for an aromatic finish.
  10. Slice and serve hot, enjoying the harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
