Grilled Swordfish with Lemon Butter

Indulge in the succulent flavors of grilled swordfish, perfectly complemented by a zesty lemon butter sauce. This dish not only showcases the tender, flaky texture of fresh swordfish steaks but also brings a burst of brightness from the citrus and richness from the butter. Historically cherished by coastal communities, swordfish has been a staple in Mediterranean cuisine, often grilled over open flames to enhance its natural flavors. This recipe is simple enough for a weeknight dinner yet impressive enough for special occasions, inviting you to savor each bite.

Ingredients

Swordfish steaks
4 (about 6 oz each)
Butter
1/4 cup, melted
Lemon juice
2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Lemon wedges
for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to create the lemon butter sauce.
  3. Brush the swordfish steaks generously with the lemon butter mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly.
  4. Place the swordfish steaks on the preheated grill. Cook for about 6 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and easily flakes with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  5. Once cooked, remove the swordfish steaks from the grill and let them rest for 3-5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
  6. Before serving, sprinkle the grilled swordfish with chopped fresh parsley for color and flavor.
  7. Serve hot with additional lemon wedges on the side for a fresh squeeze of citrus.
