Servings: 12
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- 2 cups
- Granulated sugar
- 2 cups
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup
- Baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil
- 1 cup
- Milk
- 1 cup
- Eggs
- 2 large
- Vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons
- Brewed coffee
- 1 cup, cooled
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, ensuring even coverage for easy release.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well-blended.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Gradually stir in the cooled brewed coffee until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix, as this can lead to a denser cake.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Tap the pans gently on the counter to release any air bubbles.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, carefully remove from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once completely cool, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or a simple dusting of powdered sugar for a more rustic presentation.
