Servings: 4

Ingredients

Sugarcane stalks
2-3, peeled and cut into 3-4 inch pieces
Lime
1, juiced
Water
1-2 cups (to taste)
Ice cubes
as needed
Optional: Lime wedges
for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling the sugarcane stalks and cutting them into small, manageable pieces, around 3-4 inches long.
  2. Using a juicer, extract the juice from the sugarcane pieces. If you do not have a juicer, a heavy-duty blender can be used; just blend the sugarcane pieces with 1 cup of water until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to collect the juice.
  3. In a large glass or pitcher, combine the freshly extracted sugarcane juice with the juice of one lime. Stir well to blend the flavors.
  4. Taste the mixture and if you prefer a less sweet drink, gradually add more water to dilute to your liking. Start with an additional cup of water and adjust accordingly.
  5. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Guarapo over the ice, ensuring to leave some room for garnish.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Guarapo. Optional: Garnish with a lime wedge for an extra zesty touch.
