Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Sugarcane stalks
- 2-3, peeled and cut into 3-4 inch pieces
- Lime
- 1, juiced
- Water
- 1-2 cups (to taste)
- Ice cubes
- as needed
- Optional: Lime wedges
- for garnish
Instructions
- Start by peeling the sugarcane stalks and cutting them into small, manageable pieces, around 3-4 inches long.
- Using a juicer, extract the juice from the sugarcane pieces. If you do not have a juicer, a heavy-duty blender can be used; just blend the sugarcane pieces with 1 cup of water until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to collect the juice.
- In a large glass or pitcher, combine the freshly extracted sugarcane juice with the juice of one lime. Stir well to blend the flavors.
- Taste the mixture and if you prefer a less sweet drink, gradually add more water to dilute to your liking. Start with an additional cup of water and adjust accordingly.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Guarapo over the ice, ensuring to leave some room for garnish.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Guarapo. Optional: Garnish with a lime wedge for an extra zesty touch.
