Egg
1, beaten lightly for egg wash
Powdered sugar
1/2 cup
Cream cheese
8 oz, softened
Guava paste
1 cup, cut into small cubes
Puff pastry sheets
2, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry into a 12x12-inch square.
  4. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Distribute half of the guava paste cubes evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Starting from one side, roll up the puff pastry tightly to form a log.
  7. Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry and the remaining cream cheese mixture and guava paste cubes.
  8. Slice each log into 6 equal pieces and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg wash. This will give them a beautiful, golden finish.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
  11. Remove the pastries from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Serve warm, sprinkled with a little extra powdered sugar for a sweet finish, if desired. Enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 If you can't find guava paste, you can substitute it with any other fruit paste of your choice. Strawberry or apricot would work well.
  • 💡 For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg to the cream cheese mixture.
