Ingredients
- Sticky rice
- 1 cup
- Coconut milk
- 1 can (13.5 oz)
- Brown sugar
- 1/2 cup
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Water
- 2 cups (for soaking)
Instructions
- Soak the sticky rice in 2 cups of water for at least 1 hour to soften it.
- After soaking, drain the sticky rice and transfer it to a medium-sized pot.
- Add the coconut milk, brown sugar, and salt to the pot with the sticky rice.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid. Let it simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking on the bottom.
- When the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the coconut milk, remove the pot from the heat.
- Serve warm, either on its own or with a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes on top for added texture.
