Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the halibut fillets with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
- In an oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the halibut fillets and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden crust.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the halibut is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- While the halibut is baking, prepare the creamy caper sauce. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and capers to the melted butter, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and the garlic is lightly browned.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly for about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Once the halibut is done, remove it from the oven and serve each fillet topped with the creamy caper sauce.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Tips
- For a lighter version, you can substitute heavy cream with Greek yogurt or coconut cream.
- Serve this dish with a side of steamed asparagus or a light salad for a refreshing contrast.
- If you want to add some heat, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
