Ingredients

Halibut fillets
1 pound
Tortillas
8 small corn or flour tortillas
Avocado
1, sliced
Salsa
1 cup, store-bought or homemade
Lime juice
2 tablespoons, divided
Mayonnaise
1/4 cup
Cilantro
1/2 cup, chopped
Carrots
1 cup, shredded
Cabbage
2 cups, shredded
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon
Chili powder
1 teaspoon
Cumin
1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of lime juice, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
  3. Brush the halibut fillets generously with the marinade on both sides, allowing them to absorb the flavors.
  4. Grill the halibut fillets for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and flaky. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  5. Remove the halibut from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before flaking it into bite-sized pieces.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped cilantro, mayonnaise, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Toss well to coat the slaw evenly.
  7. Warm the tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet until they are soft and pliable.
  8. To assemble the tacos, place a generous spoonful of the slaw on each tortilla, top with the flaked halibut, sliced avocado, and a dollop of salsa.
