Instructions
- Begin by seasoning the halibut fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the seasoned halibut fillets to the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fillets from the skillet and set aside on a warm plate.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant and slightly golden.
- Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Add the capers and continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and the flavors to meld together.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Plate the halibut fillets and generously spoon the caper sauce over the top. Garnish with additional parsley if desired.
Tips
- For a richer flavor, you can replace half of the chicken broth with white wine.
- Serve this dish with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
- If halibut is not available, this recipe works well with other firm white fish such as cod or mahi-mahi.
