Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and divide into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty.
- Grill the patties for 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Grill the pineapple slices for 2 minutes on each side, until they have beautiful grill marks.
- While the burgers and pineapples are grilling, make the barbecue sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and mustard. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
- Spread a generous amount of barbecue sauce on the bottom halves of the hamburger buns.
- Layer a lettuce leaf, a burger patty, a pineapple slice, a tomato slice, and a red onion slice on each bun bottom.
- Finish with the top half of the bun and serve while hot.
Tips
- For a spicy kick, consider adding a slice of jalapeno or some spicy mayo to your burger.
- You can substitute the beef with chicken or turkey for a leaner option, or a plant-based patty for a vegetarian version.
