Water
4 cups
Dried hibiscus flowers
1 cup
Granulated sugar
1/2 cup
Lime juice
from 1 lime
Ice cubes
as needed for serving
Fresh mint leaves
for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and the freshly squeezed juice of 1 lime. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. After simmering, strain the tea into a pitcher using a fine mesh sieve to remove the hibiscus flowers, pressing gently to extract all the liquid.
  5. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, approximately 1-2 hours.
  6. Serve the chilled hibiscus tea over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a refreshing finish.
