Hojicha Latte

Indulge in the warm embrace of a Hojicha Latte, a delightful blend of roasted green tea and creamy milk. Originating from Japan, hojicha is made by roasting green tea leaves, giving it a unique nutty flavor and a beautiful brown hue. This comforting beverage is perfect for cozy evenings or a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up. With its rich aroma and smooth texture, each sip transports you to a serene Japanese tea house.

Serves 2

Ingredients

Hojicha powder
2 tablespoons
Hot water
1/2 cup
Milk (whole, almond, or oat)
1 cup
Sugar (or sweetener of choice)
1-2 tablespoons, to taste
Ground cinnamon (optional)
a pinch, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the hojicha powder and hot water until smooth and no lumps remain.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the milk is hot but not boiling, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add the sugar to the hot milk, stirring until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to your liking.
  4. Divide the hojicha mixture between two mugs, filling each about halfway.
  5. Pour the hot milk into the mugs, stirring gently to combine the hojicha and milk thoroughly.
  6. For an added touch, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon on top before serving.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your soothing Hojicha Latte!

Tips

  • 💡 For a frothy latte, use a milk frother or whisk the hot milk vigorously before combining it with the hojicha.
  • 💡 Experiment with different types of milk for varied flavors; oat milk adds a lovely creaminess!
  • 💡 For a sweeter treat, try adding a drizzle of honey or maple syrup instead of sugar.
