Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the olive oil and warm water.
- Using a fork or your hands, gently mix the ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball into a thin circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the skillet if desired.
- Add one of the flatbreads to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining flatbreads, adjusting the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy with your favorite dips or as a base for delicious toppings.
Tips
- For a more flavorful flatbread, consider adding herbs such as rosemary or thyme to the dough.
- You can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor and added nutrition.
- Experiment with different toppings like za'atar or garlic before cooking for added flair!
