Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet, if necessary. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
- While the beef mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture generously on the toasted buns. Enjoy with a side of pickles or coleslaw for added crunch!
Tips
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or some diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- You can substitute half of the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Feel free to add chopped bell peppers or celery for more vegetables and texture.
