Servings: 10-12

Ingredients

All-purpose flour
2 cups
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon
Vegetable oil
3 tablespoons
Warm water
3/4 cup

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  2. Add the vegetable oil to the flour mixture and use your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the warm water, mixing with your hands until a loose, sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes until it becomes firm but soft.
  5. Place the kneaded dough back into the bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  6. After resting, divide the dough into golf-sized balls (about 10-12 pieces).
  7. On a floured surface, roll each ball out until it reaches a diameter of 6-7 inches.
  8. Preheat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  9. Carefully place each tortilla into the hot pan and cook for about 30-60 seconds, or until bubbles form and the bottom turns golden. Flip and cook for an additional 30-60 seconds on the other side.
  10. Transfer the cooked tortillas to a tortilla warmer or wrap them in a clean towel to keep warm and soft. Repeat the cooking process with the remaining dough.
