Serves 16

Ingredients

Hot peppers
1 cup, washed and stems removed (adjust variety for desired heat level)
Garlic
4 cloves, peeled
White vinegar
1 cup
Water
1/2 cup
Sugar
1 tablespoon
Salt
1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the hot peppers thoroughly and removing the stems. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can also remove the seeds.
  2. In a blender or food processor, combine the hot peppers, garlic, white vinegar, salt, sugar, and water. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Transfer the blended mixture to a saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and allow the hot sauce to cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, transfer the hot sauce to a sterilized bottle or jar. Make sure to label it with the date.
  7. Store your homemade hot sauce in the refrigerator, where it can last for up to 6 months. The flavors will continue to develop over time.

Tips

  • 💡 Experiment with different types of hot peppers such as jalapeños, habaneros, or serranos to customize the heat level.
  • 💡 For a smokier flavor, consider roasting the peppers and garlic before blending.
  • 💡 If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can simmer it longer to reduce the liquid.
