Indian Paneer Tikka Masala

Ingredients

  • Cilantro (2 tablespoons, chopped)
  • Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) (1 tablespoon)
  • Fresh cream (1/2 cup)
  • Cashew nuts (1/2 cup, soaked in warm water)
  • Tomato (2 large, pureed)
  • Onion (1 large, finely chopped)
  • Oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Garam masala (1 teaspoon)
  • Red chili powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Ginger (1 inch, grated)
  • Yogurt (1/2 cup)
  • Paneer (2 cups, cubed)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, grated ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to create the marinade.
  2. Add the paneer cubes to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated paneer cubes and cook until they turn golden brown on all sides. Once done, remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  5. Add the pureed tomatoes to the pan and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  6. While the tomatoes are cooking, grind the soaked cashew nuts into a smooth paste.
  7. Add the cashew paste to the pan and mix well.
  8. Stir in the fresh cream and kasuri methi, combining well.
  9. Add the cooked paneer cubes to the sauce and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes.
