Servings: 4

Ingredients

Ground pork
1 pound, preferably with some fat for flavor
Fennel seeds
1 teaspoon, crushed
Dried basil
1 teaspoon
Dried oregano
1 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Onion powder
1 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Olive oil
1 tablespoon (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, crushed fennel seeds, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Using your hands or a spatula, mix the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Form the mixture into small patties, about 1 inch in diameter, ensuring they are evenly shaped for consistent cooking.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
  7. Remove the sausages from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  8. Serve the sausages hot with your favorite breakfast sides, such as scrambled eggs, toast, or sautéed vegetables.
