This homemade Italian dressing recipe, passed down through generations, is a harmonious blend of herbs, garlic, and tangy vinegar, rounded off with the richness of extra virgin olive oil. Its robust flavor profile enhances any salad or can be used as a marinade to infuse your meat dishes with a taste of the Italian countryside.

Ingredients

Granulated sugar
1 teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Fine sea salt
1/2 teaspoon
Dried parsley
1 teaspoon
Dried basil
1 teaspoon
Dried oregano
1 teaspoon
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon
Red wine vinegar
1/3 cup
Extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, thoroughly mix together the minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, dried parsley, salt, freshly ground black pepper, and granulated sugar.
  2. Add the Dijon mustard and red wine vinegar to the bowl. Whisk until the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Gradually pour in the extra virgin olive oil while continuously whisking the mixture. This process will help create an emulsion, resulting in a cohesive and well-blended dressing.
  4. Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
  5. Pour the dressing into a sealed container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  6. Before using the dressing, give it a good shake to ensure all the flavors are well distributed.
