
Jeera Rice with Basmati Rice
Jeera rice is a simple and flavorful Indian rice dish made with basmati rice and cumin seeds.
Ingredients
- Fresh cilantro (2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish))
- Salt (1 teaspoon)
- Water (2 cups)
- Ghee or butter (2 tablespoons)
- Cumin seeds (1 tablespoon)
- Basmati rice (1 cup)
Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a large saucepan, heat the ghee or butter over medium heat.
- Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to sizzle and become fragrant.
- Add the washed basmati rice to the saucepan and sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add water and salt to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the rice simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
