Ingredients

Ground beef
1 pound
Onion
1, finely chopped
Carrot
1, grated
Potato
1, grated
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, grated
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Salt
1 teaspoon, or to taste
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
All-purpose flour
2 cups
Water
3/4 cup, or as needed
Vegetable oil
for greasing the steamer

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, grated carrot, grated potato, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and water to create a smooth, pliable dough. Adjust the water as necessary to achieve the right consistency.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls, approximately the size of a golf ball. Roll each ball out into thin circles about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  5. Carefully fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, then seal the edges by pressing them together firmly with your fingers. Ensure there are no air pockets inside.
  6. Prepare your steamer by lightly greasing the steamer basket with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Arrange the filled dumplings in the steamer basket, making sure to leave space between them to allow for expansion during cooking.
  8. Steam the dumplings over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the dough is tender and the filling is fully cooked.
  9. Serve hot with soy sauce or a spicy dipping sauce for added flavor.

Tips

  • 💡 For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with finely chopped mushrooms or tofu, and add extra vegetables.
  • 💡 Serve with a side of chili sauce mixed with vinegar for a spicy kick.
