Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
- Coat the chicken wings evenly with the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Set aside.
- Heat ample vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the chicken wings in batches for about 10-12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried chicken and drain on paper towels.
- To prepare the sauce, combine soy sauce, honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly, this should take about 5 minutes.
- Toss the crispy chicken wings in the sauce until they're evenly coated.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy your journey through the flavors of Korea!
Tips
- For an extra crunchy coating, you can double fry the chicken wings.
- If you prefer a less spicy version, adjust the amount of gochujang according to your taste.
- Pair the chicken with a side of pickled radish to balance out the heat.
