Servings: 4

Ingredients

Chicken wings
1 kg
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Cornstarch
1 cup
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Ginger powder
1 teaspoon
Vegetable oil
for deep frying
Soy sauce
1/2 cup
Honey
1/4 cup
Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
1/4 cup
Rice vinegar
2 tablespoons
Toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Green onions
2 stalks, sliced
Toasted sesame seeds
for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
  2. Coat the chicken wings evenly with the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Set aside.
  3. Heat ample vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the chicken wings in batches for about 10-12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried chicken and drain on paper towels.
  5. To prepare the sauce, combine soy sauce, honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly, this should take about 5 minutes.
  6. Toss the crispy chicken wings in the sauce until they're evenly coated.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds.
  8. Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy your journey through the flavors of Korea!
