Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.
- Add the egg yolks, freshly grated lemon zest, and brandy to the bowl. Stir until the dough starts to form.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a thin rope, approximately 6 inches long.
- Twist each rope into a knot or braid, pressing the ends together to seal. These will be your krostules.
- In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the krostules.
- Carefully add the krostules to the hot oil in batches. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, which should take about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the krostules from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Once the krostules have cooled slightly, dust them generously with powdered sugar.
- Serve the krostules while they're warm and enjoy their delightful crunch!
