Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, tomato, red bell pepper, minced garlic, parsley, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, divide your prepared dough into 4 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a thin round shape, about 10 inches in diameter. If you prefer a crispier base, you can roll it thinner.
- Spread a thin, even layer of the meat mixture onto each dough round, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent spilling.
- Carefully transfer the lahmacun onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the meat is cooked through. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh mint leaves and accompanied by lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or a dash of cayenne pepper to the meat mixture.
- Feel free to experiment with different toppings such as arugula, pickled onions, or feta cheese for added flavor.
- If you want a gluten-free option, you can substitute regular flour with a gluten-free flour blend for the dough.
