Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Water
1 cup
Granulated sugar
3/4 cup
Lemon juice
1 cup, freshly squeezed
Lemon zest
2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and lemon zest. Mix until well combined.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill.
  4. Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for an additional 2 hours, or until firm.
  6. To serve, scoop the sorbet into chilled bowls or glasses and garnish with a lemon slice or mint leaves for an extra touch of elegance.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra twist, try adding a splash of limoncello for an adult version of this sorbet.
  • 💡 You can also mix in fresh berries or herbs like basil during the churning process for added flavor.
  • 💡 If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes for about 2-3 hours until it reaches a sorbet-like consistency.
