Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh lime juice, water, and granulated sugar.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the lime zest. This infuses the syrup with the aromatic oils in the lime skin.
- Allow the lime-sugar mixture to cool down to room temperature.
- Once cooled, pour the mixture into your ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
- Transfer the churned sorbet to an airtight container. Smooth the top and cover.
- Freeze the sorbet for at least 4 hours until it is firm. For the best texture, try not to disturb the sorbet during this time.
- Serve the lime sorbet in chilled bowls or cones. Garnish with a slice of lime or sprig of mint if desired, and enjoy the refreshing taste of summer!
Tips
- For an adult twist, try adding a splash of tequila or rum before churning. For a creamier sorbet, add a tablespoon of light corn syrup to the sugar and water mixture.
