Indulge in the ultimate gourmet comfort food - Creamy Lobster Mac and Cheese. This dish combines tender morsels of sweet lobster meat with a rich, velvety cheese sauce and perfectly cooked macaroni, all topped with a crunchy golden breadcrumb topping. A dish that hails from New England, traditionally savored on special occasions, it's a beautifully balanced blend of luxury and hominess.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

Bread crumbs
1/2 cup
Salt and pepper
to taste
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups, shredded
Whole milk
2 cups
All-purpose flour
2 tablespoons
Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons
Macaroni
2 cups, dry
Lobster meat
1 pound, cooked and chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water, according to the package instructions, until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to create a roux, and cook for 1 minute until the mixture is smooth and golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk to the roux, ensuring no lumps form. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese and Parmesan, season with salt and pepper, and stir until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni and chopped lobster meat to the cheese sauce, stirring well to ensure everything is well coated.
  7. Transfer the lobster macaroni and cheese to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with bread crumbs.
  8. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the breadcrumb topping is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling. Let the dish stand for a few minutes before serving for the flavors to meld together.
