The recipe has its roots in the 1940s, when margaritas first gained popularity in the USA, and this version brings an exotic, fruity twist to the traditional lime-flavored favorite.

Ingredients

Ripe mango
1 large, peeled, pitted, and diced
Tequila
2 ounces
Triple sec
1 ounce
Lime juice
1 ounce, freshly squeezed
Simple syrup
1 ounce
Ice cubes
1 cup
Salt
for rimming the glasses
Lime wedges
for garnish and rimming the glasses

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glasses by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim, then dipping the rim in salt. Set aside.
  2. In a blender, combine the diced mango, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice cubes.
  3. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you prefer a thinner consistency, feel free to add a bit more tequila or a splash of water.
  4. Pour the mango margarita into the prepared glasses, taking care not to wash off the salt rim.
  5. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge.
