Maple Bacon Popcorn
Indulge in the ultimate sweet and savory snack with this Maple Bacon Popcorn! Perfect for cozy movie nights or lively parties, this delightful treat marries the rich flavors of crispy bacon and luscious maple syrup with fluffy popcorn. Each bite delivers a satisfying crunch and a burst of flavor that will have your guests coming back for more. This recipe brings together two beloved ingredients—maple syrup, a staple in North American cuisine with roots dating back to Indigenous peoples, and bacon, a classic favorite that adds a savory depth to the dish.
Ingredients
- Popcorn kernels
- 1/2 cup
- Bacon
- 6 slices, chopped
- Unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup
- Maple syrup
- 1/2 cup
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add the butter and maple syrup. Stir until the butter is fully melted and the mixture is well combined.
- Pop the popcorn kernels using a popcorn maker or in a large pot with a lid, following the manufacturer’s instructions or covering the pot and shaking it occasionally to prevent burning.
- In a large mixing bowl, pour the maple syrup mixture over the popped popcorn and stir quickly until all the popcorn is evenly coated.
- Spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle the crispy bacon pieces on top.
- Bake for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the popcorn is golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.
Tips
- For an extra crunch, consider adding some chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the popcorn before baking.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, try sprinkling some cayenne pepper or chili powder over the popcorn before baking.
- This recipe can be easily scaled up for larger gatherings—just double or triple the ingredients!
