Experience the authentic taste of Italy with this classic marinara pizza! It's topped with a rich, flavorful tomato sauce infused with garlic and a hint of spice, complemented by the freshness of basil and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Perfect for a cozy night in or a festive gathering, this pizza captures the essence of traditional Italian cooking, bringing the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean right to your table.

Ingredients

Pizza dough
1 (store-bought or homemade)
Tomato sauce
1 cup
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Fresh basil
1/4 cup, chopped
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Aim for a thickness of about 1/4 inch for a crispy base.
  3. Carefully transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet or onto the preheated pizza stone.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the tomato sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to blend the flavors.
  5. Spread the tomato sauce mixture evenly over the surface of the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot, enjoying the delightful aroma and flavors.

  • 💡 Experiment with different herbs like oregano or thyme to enhance the sauce.
  • 💡 This pizza pairs beautifully with a simple arugula salad or a glass of Chianti wine.
