Ingredients

Original recipe serves 8

All-purpose flour
2 cups
Eggs
2 whole
Milk
2 cups
Granulated sugar
1/4 cup
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Butter
for greasing skillet
Nutella
to taste
Edam cheese
to taste, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter.
  3. Pour a ladleful of batter into the skillet, swirling it around to evenly coat the bottom. This will form your marquesita.
  4. Cook until the edges of the marquesita start to lift from the skillet, this should take about 2 minutes. Then, carefully flip it over and cook the other side for another minute or two.
  5. While still in the skillet, spread a generous layer of Nutella over the surface of the marquesita and sprinkle with shredded Edam cheese.
  6. While the marquesita is still warm and flexible, roll it up tightly. Repeat these steps with the remaining batter and fillings.
  7. Serve the marquesitas immediately while they are still warm and crispy.
