Instructions
- Chill a martini glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before preparing the cocktail.
- In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in the gin and dry vermouth.
- Stir the mixture well for about 30 seconds, or until the outside of the glass or shaker feels cold to the touch.
- Strain the cocktail into your chilled martini glass, leaving the ice behind in the shaker.
- Garnish with a green olive or a twist of lemon. To twist a lemon, simply cut a thin slice of lemon peel and twist it over the drink to release its oils before dropping it in.
- Serve immediately and enjoy this classic cocktail responsibly.
Tips
- For a 'wet' martini, increase the amount of vermouth to your liking.
- For a 'dirty' martini, add a splash of olive brine.
- For a 'shaken' martini, shake the mixture instead of stirring. This will introduce small ice chips into the drink and make it a little cloudy.
- Always use high-quality gin and vermouth as the taste of these two ingredients is crucial to the end result.
