Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Coriander leaves
- 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon, adjust to taste
- Garam masala
- 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon
- Green chillies
- 2, finely chopped
- Ginger
- 1 inch piece, finely grated
- Onions
- 2 medium, finely chopped
- Tomatoes
- 3 medium, pureed
- Peas
- 1 cup, fresh or frozen
- Paneer
- 200 grams, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat and add the cumin seeds. Allow them to sizzle for about 30 seconds.
- Add the finely chopped onions to the pan. Sauté the onions until they turn translucent, which should take about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the grated ginger, chopped green chillies and sauté until the raw smell goes away, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in the pureed tomatoes and stir. Let the mixture simmer until the oil separates from the sides of the pan, about 8-10 minutes.
- Mix in the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Stir well to incorporate the spices into the sauce.
- Add the peas and 1/2 cup of water. Cover the pan and let it simmer until the peas are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Gently stir in the paneer cubes and garam masala. Let the mixture cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish your Matar Paneer with finely chopped coriander leaves just before serving. Serve hot with roti or rice, and enjoy.
