Ingredients

Original recipe serves 1

Matcha powder
1 teaspoon
Hot water
3 tablespoons, 175°f
Milk
1 cup (you can use any type of milk you prefer)
Sweetener
to taste (honey, agave syrup, or sugar are great options)

Instructions

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small mixing bowl to remove any clumps. This step ensures a smoother matcha mixture.
  2. Pour the hot water into the bowl. Using a bamboo whisk, briskly whisk the matcha powder and water in a 'W' formation until the mixture becomes frothy.
  3. On the stove, heat the milk over medium heat in a saucepan until hot. Be careful not to let the milk boil.
  4. Pour the hot milk into a large mug.
  5. Slowly pour the frothy matcha mixture into the mug with milk, stirring gently to combine everything. The matcha should mix well with the milk, turning it a beautiful green color.
  6. Sweeten your matcha latte to taste. Stir the sweetener into the latte until it is fully dissolved.
  7. Serve your creamy matcha latte hot. Enjoy the soothing warmth and unique flavor of this traditional Japanese drink!

Tips

  • 💡 For a vegan version, use plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk.
  • 💡 If you don't have a bamboo whisk, you can also use a regular whisk or a frother.
  • 💡 For a cold matcha latte, simply let the matcha mixture and milk cool down before mixing. Add ice cubes for extra chill.
