Experience the exquisite blend of bitterness and creaminess in this traditional Japanese drink. Our Creamy Matcha Latte is a warming beverage that perfectly balances the grassy and sweet notes of matcha powder with the richness of milk. Sweetened to taste, it's a delightful pick-me-up anytime of the day. Matcha has been part of Japanese tea ceremonies for centuries and is now gaining global popularity for its unique taste and health benefits.
Ingredients
- Matcha powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Hot water
- 3 tablespoons, 175°f
- Milk
- 1 cup (you can use any type of milk you prefer)
- Sweetener
- to taste (honey, agave syrup, or sugar are great options)
Instructions
- Sift the matcha powder into a small mixing bowl to remove any clumps. This step ensures a smoother matcha mixture.
- Pour the hot water into the bowl. Using a bamboo whisk, briskly whisk the matcha powder and water in a 'W' formation until the mixture becomes frothy.
- On the stove, heat the milk over medium heat in a saucepan until hot. Be careful not to let the milk boil.
- Pour the hot milk into a large mug.
- Slowly pour the frothy matcha mixture into the mug with milk, stirring gently to combine everything. The matcha should mix well with the milk, turning it a beautiful green color.
- Sweeten your matcha latte to taste. Stir the sweetener into the latte until it is fully dissolved.
- Serve your creamy matcha latte hot. Enjoy the soothing warmth and unique flavor of this traditional Japanese drink!
Tips
- For a vegan version, use plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk.
- If you don't have a bamboo whisk, you can also use a regular whisk or a frother.
- For a cold matcha latte, simply let the matcha mixture and milk cool down before mixing. Add ice cubes for extra chill.
