Servings: 6
Ingredients
- Egg (1, beaten (for egg wash))
- Pie crust (2 (9-inch) crusts)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon (to taste))
- Black pepper (1/4 teaspoon (to taste))
- Dried thyme (1 teaspoon)
- Worcestershire sauce (1 tablespoon)
- Beef broth (1 cup)
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Carrots (2, diced)
- Onion (1, chopped)
- Ground beef (1 pound)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic, and cook until the vegetables are tender and the beef is no longer pink.
- Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Prepare a 9-inch pie dish by lining it with one sheet of pie crust, pressing it gently into the corners.
- Spoon the savory meat mixture into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
- Cover the filling with the second sheet of pie crust, trimming any excess dough and crimping the edges to seal it well. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and flaky. Let it stand for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
