Servings: 4

Ingredients

Ground beef
1 lb
Breadcrumbs
1/2 cup
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Egg
1
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon
Salt and pepper
to taste
Marinara sauce
2 cups
Sub rolls
4
Mozzarella cheese
1 cup, shredded
Fresh basil
to garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into 1-inch diameter meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. When the meatballs are ready, add them to the marinara sauce and allow them to simmer for 10 minutes. This will help the meatballs absorb the flavours of the sauce.
  7. Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, creating a pocket but not cutting all the way through.
  8. Fill the sub rolls with the meatballs and marinara sauce, ensuring every bite will have a meatball.
  9. Top the meatballs with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  10. Return the sub rolls to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Garnish each meatball sub with fresh basil leaves for a burst of freshness before serving.
