Medianoche Sandwich
The Medianoche sandwich, a beloved staple of Cuban cuisine, is a delightful fusion of savory flavors and textures. Ingredients
- Pickles
- 1/2 cup, sliced
- Yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons
- Sweet bread (such as egg bread or challah)
- 4 slices
- Swiss cheese
- 4 slices
- Ham
- 4 slices
- Roast pork
- 1 cup, sliced
- Butter
- 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
Instructions
- Preheat a panini press or a grill pan over medium heat.
- Spread yellow mustard on one side of each slice of sweet bread.
- On two slices of bread, layer the roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and sliced pickles. Top with the remaining slices of bread, mustard side down.
- Melt the butter in the grill pan, then place the sandwiches in the pan or panini press.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- If using a grill pan, flip the sandwich halfway through to ensure even toasting.
- Remove from heat and let the sandwiches cool for a couple of minutes.
- Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve warm.
