Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Add in the paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Stir the mixture well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Once simmering, reduce the heat to low. Let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.
- After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the sauce to cool before using. This helps to further develop the flavors.
- Pour any leftover sauce into an airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Tips
- For a smokier flavor, consider adding 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
- If you prefer a spicier sauce, increase the amount of cayenne pepper to taste.
- This sauce can be used as a marinade before grilling, or brushed on meats during the last few minutes of grilling.
