Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

Betel leaves
10-12 leaves, washed and dried
Dried shrimp
1/4 cup, finely chopped
Roasted peanuts
1/4 cup, crushed
Shallots
2, finely chopped
Fresh ginger
1 tablespoon, grated
Coconut flakes
1/4 cup, toasted
Bird's eye chili
1-2, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
Palm sugar
2 tablespoons, grated
Fish sauce
2 tablespoons
Lime
1, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash the betel leaves under running water, then pat them dry with a clean towel and set them aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed roasted peanuts, finely chopped dried shrimp, shallots, grated ginger, toasted coconut flakes, and chopped bird's eye chili. Mix in the grated palm sugar and fish sauce until well combined, ensuring the mixture is evenly seasoned.
  3. Take a betel leaf and place a spoonful of the filling mixture in the center.
  4. Fold the sides of the betel leaf over the filling, forming a small parcel while ensuring it is securely wrapped.
  5. Arrange the wrapped Miang Kham on a serving platter and serve with lime wedges on the side.
  6. To enjoy, squeeze fresh lime juice over the filling before taking a bite of the wrapped betel leaf for a burst of acidity that complements the flavors.
