Serves 8

Ingredients

Fresh mint leaves
2 cups, packed
Fresh cilantro
1 cup, packed
Green chilies
2, chopped (adjust to taste)
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 inch piece, peeled and chopped
Cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Lemon juice
2 tablespoons
Water
2-4 tablespoons (as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the fresh mint leaves, fresh cilantro, chopped green chilies, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped ginger, cumin powder, salt, and 2 tablespoons of water.
  2. Blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, gradually add more water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or lemon juice if necessary.
  4. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve as a dip or condiment alongside your favorite Indian dishes, such as samosas, pakoras, or grilled meats.

Tips

  • 💡 For a milder chutney, remove the seeds from the green chilies before blending.
  • 💡 You can also add a pinch of sugar to balance the flavors if desired.
  • 💡 This chutney can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
