Ingredients

Original recipe serves 8

Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Heavy cream
1 cup
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups
Milk
1 cup
Marshmallows
2 cups
Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, melted
Chocolate cookies
2 cups, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the crushed chocolate cookies and melted butter. Press this mixture into the bottom of a pie dish to form the crust.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, add the marshmallows and milk. Stir the mixture continuously until the marshmallows have completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Pour this marshmallow mixture over the cooled crust and refrigerate until set.
  5. In a separate saucepan, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Heat over low heat, stirring until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. This is your chocolate ganache.
  6. Pour the chocolate ganache over the set marshmallow layer, ensuring it's evenly spread. Refrigerate the pie until the chocolate ganache layer is set.
  7. Serve chilled. Enjoy the decadent layers of this classic Southern dessert!
