Mixed Berry Italian Soda

Experience the tantalizing effervescence of this Mixed Berry Italian Soda. This delightful beverage is a symphony of sweet mixed berries and the invigorating fizz of club soda, elevated with a luxurious splash of cream. Perfect for sipping on a balmy summer afternoon, it's a slice of Italian 'la dolce vita' right in your glass.

Serves 4

Ingredients

Heavy cream
4 tablespoons
Club soda
4 cups
Water
1 cup
Sugar
1 cup
Mixed berries
2 cups, fresh or frozen

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, and water. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. The berries will soften and release their sweet, vibrant juices.
  3. Strain the berry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the berries to extract as much juice and flavor as possible. This will be your homemade berry syrup. Discard the berry solids.
  4. Allow the syrup to cool down to room temperature. For quicker cooling, you can place the bowl in an ice bath.
  5. To assemble the Italian soda, fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in 1/4 cup of the berry syrup.
  6. Top off the glass with 1 cup of club soda, and then add a tablespoon of heavy cream for a touch of richness.
  7. Stir gently to combine, ensuring the cream beautifully swirls through the soda.
  8. Repeat this process with the remaining glasses. Serve the Italian sodas immediately for the most refreshing experience.

Tips

  • 💡 For a dairy-free version, you can substitute the heavy cream with coconut cream.
  • 💡 Try different fruits like blackberries, raspberries, or strawberries for a unique twist.
  • 💡 The berry syrup can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
